Far Lantern is a personal reading journal shaped by my own reading life, opinions, memories, and sense of what makes a book immersive without becoming emotionally exhausting.
I use generative AI as a creative and editorial tool. It may help me brainstorm, organize reading notes, explore possible structures, refine developing passages, or clarify an idea I am already trying to express. I may also use it to assist with other behind-the-scenes production work.
AI does not read or experience books for me. The books discussed on Far Lantern are books I have read, and the interpretations, recommendations, emotional responses, connections, and final judgments are my own. I direct the work, check the details, question suggestions that do not fit, and revise the final piece until it reflects what I genuinely think and how I want to say it.
Images
Some original editorial images on Far Lantern are created or developed with generative AI under my direction. This can involve writing detailed visual instructions, evaluating the results, requesting substantial revisions, and selecting an image that fits the particular article and the wider Far Lantern aesthetic.
Why I use it
Far Lantern is an independently created project. AI helps me manage the practical work involved in turning scattered notes, reading memories, visual ideas, and developing plans into finished articles and supporting materials. It gives me another way to think through a piece—but it does not decide what I believe, what I recommend, or what belongs here.
The final responsibility for everything published on Far Lantern remains mine.
